Record and correct an outcome
For reviewers. How-to.
An outcome is your recorded decision on a case. This guide shows how to record one and how to fix one that is wrong. Records are never edited or deleted: a correction is a new entry that comes after the old one. The tool never writes to OpenStreetMap, so recording an outcome does not change the map or post anything. Lanes only order the queue, so an outcome does not move or hide a case.
You need to be signed in as a reviewer, and a case that has been analyzed. A case with no analysis cannot take an outcome, because an outcome is recorded against the analysis you saw.
The outcomes
Section titled “The outcomes”| Outcome | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Agreed | You agree with the suggested response. |
| Needs survey | Someone needs to check on the ground. |
| Disagreed with the model | You disagree with what was suggested. A note saying why helps. |
| Different response | You chose another kind of comment than the one suggested. The draft screen records this for you. |
| No action | You decided no comment is needed. The draft screen records this when you reject a draft as not needed. |
Record an outcome from the case
Section titled “Record an outcome from the case”- Open the case.
- In the action bar, choose Agree (
a), Needs survey (s) or Disagree with model (x). - In the dialog, add a Note if you like. It is optional.
- If you are disagreeing, you can also tick the facts that were read wrongly and pick the right answer for each. This is optional. It helps refit cut points later and does not change this decision.
- Choose Record decision.
You can also record an outcome from the draft screen, by approving or rejecting a draft. See draft and send a comment.
Correct an outcome
Section titled “Correct an outcome”You cannot edit an entry. To correct one, open the same case and record a new outcome. The new entry becomes the latest decision on the case, shown as “Latest decision” with who recorded it and when. The earlier entry stays in the record, and History lists both.
If someone else recorded a decision on the case while you had it open, a dialog says Someone else recorded a decision first and shows what they recorded and their note. You can then:
- Choose Record mine after theirs, to add your own entry after theirs.
- Choose Accept theirs and close, to keep their decision.
Check that it worked
Section titled “Check that it worked”The case shows “Decision recorded” with the outcome, then a line such as “Latest decision: Agreed by” your name and the time. Open History and find the row. Choose Details to see the note, the band as it was at the time and any final text. The probabilities there are shown as they were when the analysis ran, and they are not recalculated.
